Pile Foundations
From residences to high rise condominiums, LMJ&A can provide you with a variety of services related to
pile foundations. For most pile foundation projects, we perform Standard
Penetration Test borings during the subsurface exploration
phase of the project and use the data obtained in these borings to make pile
foundation recommendations. Typical pile foundation recommendations
can include recommended pile materials, sizes, lengths, corresponding allowable pile
capacities, and recommended installation procedures. We can use computer
programs to estimate the lateral load capacity of piles and their deflections
under these loads. We provide
recommendations for all types of piles including driven and auger cast piles.
We are also involved throughout the foundation construction phase of projects
providing pile monitoring
and using dynamic pile driving formulas and computer programs to verify the actual capacities obtained in
the field, and to determine if the contractor's hammer selection is appropriate
for the project. We feel that it is important that the geotechnical
engineer who made the foundation recommendations be involved during the
foundation construction phase of the project. We
provide pile monitoring
services, static load testing services, and
coordinate pile dynamic analysis (PDA) testing with recognized professionals
if applicable to provide a link between these professionals, the contractor and our
professional geotechnical
engineering staff. For additional information about our construction phase
pile testing services please contact
